When will the darkness be over? - December 2015

People call winter the season of darkness.  The cold sure brings emotional darkness for many of us, and there is of course, less minutes of daylight throughout this season.   The lack of green and the bare, dormant life of nature adds to the gloom.  Do you find it interesting that in the midst of this very season, we celebrate the arrival of the light of the world who came to break our darkness?   I just had to share a recent victory over darkness with you!!

Just a few weeks ago, I discovered my enemy had been using my weakness to hold me in the grip of darkness through fear - genuine terror - for the entire past  year.  I thought I'd turned it over to the Lord many many times, but I still couldn't seem to shake the feelings.  I was often captive - almost frozen - in that fear.  It was to the point of losing sleep, doubting trust, and imagining evil. Major struggle.

God finally revealed something to me one morning through His word.  I was reading in the book of Luke that Jesus gave His disciples power and authority to drive out all demons.  It hit me.  The fear was an attack of the enemy to sabotage me and my witness, and the demons needed to be cast out. So, in Jesus' name and by His authority (just like the scene in "War Room" if you watched it),  I stormed through my house yelling at the enemy to get out, tearfully telling him he could not play with me any longer, and assuring him that Jesus Christ was Lord over me, my home and my family!  After slamming the front door behind me, I was exhausted enough to take a nap (which I rarely do).  I am being truthful when I say that when I woke from that nap, I could physically and emotionally feel a weight was lifted.  I could sense a strength and PEACE  that I hadn't felt in the year prior, and it has lasted and kept  me strong each time that fear came knocking the past few weeks.  I will repeat that procedure as often as I need to, continuing to put my enemy in his place. That place is already reserved for him - and it's quite far under the feet of my King Jesus!   It may seem strange to you, but I believe it was necessary and effective. "Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.... For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."

The spiritual battle is real.  It goes on around us every day this side of Heaven.  But Jesus came 2,000 years ago to rescue us from that darkness and bring us into His marvelous light.   So don't be afraid to call on Christ's name and put Satan in his place.  You can experience His victory breaking your darkness just like I have.  Stand in His mighty power, and walk in His Light.

Rejoicing with you in His victory this Christmas and always!

I had to read this over and over this morning. I first read it a week ago. It is an amazing account of how Satan wants to destroy us. Thank you Jesus for your power - you alone can stand against Satan. Thank you Jesus for eliminating the enemy in Wendy's dark time. The battle is won. The cross is where Satan lost his power forever. Jesus is amazing - He rescued Wendy so that she can encourage all of us in the dark times in our lives. I think it is no coincidence that I was in the midst of a "dark time" when I found your praise music on the web. Your music and praise rattles and shakes the foundations of hell. Glory to God!
