Just when you think you're out of place...

...God puts you IN a place.  He opened the door for me to attend a conference with 150 + pastors, singing, reading God's word, and sharing our journeys in worship and ministry!   Not only did I get to attend, but I got to share my music at the evening banquet, and accompany the songs during each devotion.  I was one of less than 10 women - and felt a little - ok, I felt a LOT -out of place at first.  Quickly, God gave me various confirmations that it was His divine appointment and that He would bless it!

A variety of interesting things happened while there.  God brought us rain and sleet and snow - in late April! - but I considered it as a cool reminder of His provision and forgiveness of sins - can we ever be reminded of that enough?   At the banquet, I sang my heart out for Jesus with a few pastors listening in - afterwards, a talented pastor asked to use my guitar, and proceeded to play me his intriguing arrangements of familiar hymns that he uses in leading his people each week.   It was inspiring talking with him about music and worship, and finding a kindred spirit who loves making music as much as I do!

God also connected me to many pastors who were interested in using me as a musical and planning resource at their congregations;  A few of them shared their views and challenges in ministry, and answered questions I asked - a valuable exchange of experience.   I was nourished and taught of the importance of spiritual health and balance in the Doxology sessions offered.   And finally, a few pastors picked up my CD's for themselves or to share.  It is an honor for me to know God is using my voice and music talents to bring glory to Himself - and to renew others - especially those in ministry.

When I returned home,  I received this wonderful message from a pastor who'd purchased my "Favorite Hymns" CD:

"Yesterday, I had to officiate a funeral for a 4 year old who died under tragic circumstances. I had your CD, and used What a Friend, Rugged Cross, Be Still and Abide With Me as the basis for my remarks, comfort and encouragement.  No coincidence, of course, in God's gracious control, that He provided just what I needed for this moment of loss and comfort of God's Word.  The director played each one over the system he had, and then I remarked on the themes.   Thanks for being there and thanks for using your wonderful gift and talent from God to bless this circumstance and I know many other people, times and places.   In Christ, our Lord -  Pastor Don .

We never know where and how God will use us (or our gifts).  What matters is that He does -  so I'll keep being obedient - and trust He'll keep being faithful :-)

What a touching testimony and especially how you met Pastor Don who ended up blessing the broken souls over the loss of their loved one with your beautiful voice. Every time I come to your site, I leave more blessed than I got in. Thank you too for the "God Bless America" Acapella, I listened over and over and wanted to share with folks on Facebook and realized I am technology challenged and decided to just leave it alone. God bless your ministry dear sister, you are reaching out to so many people everyday without yourself knowing it. My prayers to you and your family.

It seems wherever Jesus is - there will be a crowd...In the bible, people pressed into him. Today is no different. You fit perfectly in wherever Jesus is - your music - your praise is exactly what we all should be involved in. I hope to press into the throng of people reaching out to Jesus - I hope for just a glimpse of HIS glory today.
