Ash White Wednesday - March 1, 2017

These last weeks in February we had temps in the 50's and the birds were chirping from tree tops, singing songs of spring!  Then Ash Wednesday arrived.

We began the season of Lent, a six-week time of preparing for Easter.  All over the world, Christians go to church and place ashes on their foreheads (in the shape of a cross) as a symbol of repentance.  They are reminded of their sin and mortality, spending moments in sadness; darkness; Black.   And on that day,  March 1, the snow began falling - after all…Read more

BOLD SILENCE - November 16, 2016

It seems cruel at first glance.  Within two weeks of receiving my newest CD "Bold" - with all these fun new arrangements and great songs that I can't wait to share - an unwelcome visitor named STREP arrives - and my voice departs!

My passion of singing is on hold and I can hardly speak.  To make matters worse,  I'm forced to drink TEA, which I despise, and I'm going days without exercise - one of my favorite daily gifts that bring me a healthy emotional balance (affording me the indulgence of chocolate!)…Read more

Moving Forward - June 22, 2016

This new ballad STRINGS will end up replacing the lent song I…

A Sharpening Moment - February 15, 2016

After leading a rousing worship service yesterday including Valentine deliveries, energetic kids, and "Jesus Loves Me", I was approached by a gentlemen named Mark with compliments to my voice.  We chatted for a while; he attends regularly, sings in the choir, and works downtown at a somewhat stressful job.  His biggest challenge appeared to be keeping a good attitude towards difficult and lazy co-workers who make more work for him.

When I mentioned these difficulties were a great way to share his faith, he…Read more

"Pray Ahead!" - January 5, 2016

"Two things I ask of you, O Lord... keep falsehood and lies far from me; Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.  Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you, or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God."  Proverbs 30:7-9

These few verses in Proverbs 30 are sayings of some guy named Agur, who was the son of some other guy named Jakeh.  I don't know much about either of them, but I like Agur's attitude.  Like Solomon who asked God for wisdom, Agur asked…Read more
